One of the characteristics and features of the land of Palestine, the good and blessed land, is that a number of prophets and pure people resided and lived in it and were buried in its land, or died outside it and were requested to be buried in it.
Ibrahim, peace be upon him:
He immigrated from Iraq to the city of Hebron in Palestine, which is now called Al khalil city, and settled there.
When Sarah died, he bought a cave on a farm and buried her there. When Abraham, peace be upon him, died, Ishmael and Isaac buried him in the same cave that he had bought and was buried with his wife Sarah.
Isaac, peace be upon him:
When Isaac fell ill and died at the age of one hundred and eighty years, his two sons, Esau and Jacob, buried him with his father Abraham, Hebron, in the cave that Abraham had bought.
Jacob, peace be upon him:
Jacob entered Egypt when he was one hundred and thirty years old. He resided in Egypt for seventeen years, then he died in the land of Egypt at the age of one hundred and forty-seven years. Joseph, peace be upon him, the king of Egypt, asked permission to go out
with his father Jacob to bury him with his family in Palestine. He granted him permission, and Jacob, peace be upon him, was buried. In the town of Hebron, which is called the city of Al-Khalil today, next to his grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac, peace be upon them.
Joseph, peace be upon him:
Because of his strong attachment to the Holy Land, the scholars of the Children of Israel recommended that they carry his body with them when they moved to Palestine. When Moses left the Children of Israel, an old woman from the Children of Israel stood up and showed them the location of his grave. It is famous that Joseph, peace be upon him, was buried in the city of Nablus in Palestine.
Shuaib, peace be upon him:
It is also mentioned that the Prophet of Allah Shuaib is buried in Hattin in Tiberias.
Moses and Aaron, peace be upon them:
They died close to it while they were in the wilderness.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, speaking about the Prophet of Allah, Moses: ((He asked Allah to bring him close to the Holy Land, a stone’s throw away. If I
were then, I would have shown you his grave, by the side of the road, by the red dune.))
Joshua bin Nun, peace be upon him:
Joshua bin Nun and those with him entered Palestine after they defeated the Canaanites, around the year 1190 BC, and he continued to rule his people for a long period of time, until he died and was buried in Palestine.
David, peace be upon him:
After establishing a great kingdom based on monotheism in Jerusalem, he died there and was buried there.
Solomon, peace be upon him:
Who founded the greatest kingdom in history and ruled after his father for forty years from 963 to 923 BC. During the rule of Solomon, he renovated the construction of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as our master Adam had built it before, Solomon died and was buried in the land of Palestine.
Allah says: ﴾So, when We decided (that) death (should come) upon him, nothing gave them any indication of his death, except a creature of the earth that had eaten up his sceptre. So, when he fell down, the Jinns came to know that if they had the knowledge of the Unseen, they would not have stayed (so long) in the humiliating punishment.﴿ [Surah Saba’: 14]
Zechariah and Yahya, peace be upon them:
There is no doubt that they died in the Holy Land and were buried there after being killed by the Jews and Romans.
Maryam, peace be upon her:
She lived and died there.
Jesus, peace be upon him:
He was born in Bethlehem and raised to heaven while he was on its land.
